Apple is now hosting a portal for webapps built for the shiny slates iPhone and iPod Touch, featuring web 2.0-ish apps that have been specifically scaled down to slot into the iPhone’s safari browser.
There are some really good ideas here, but some of the simpler things are lacking. Applications like instant messengers, iPod/iPhone email applications, and such like that.
If you are a developer, have a think about these ideas for applications:
- Google’s Notepad service for text and notes
- an iSlate (iPod/iPhone) chat service that allows you to enter your current postcode, and chat to people close to you
- some kind of Google Maps application
- instant messaging, like an MSN/ICQ/Yahoo client
- and of course, email
I look forward to seeing the applications that will roll out over the coming months, and how these applications will interact with the services allready offered by the the iSlates, and see what the rumored iHome brings, which is alleged to house these webapps locally.
Comments, questions ect welcome as always,
Graham
