String Theory In 2 Minutes

This video I came across is absoloutely fantastic, explaining String Theory in 2 minutes.

Whilst you may think that this video is a world away from my usual technology & gadgets theme, String Theory is the incubator for the idea that if you can remove an electron (or possibly a proton) from an atom, you can change its spin – and the other electron (or proton) will change it’s spin too.

For those who don’t know what this means, imagine (more or less) instant WiFi, low power, green, and tiny.

Microsoft Invests In Facebook

The software giant Microsoft today invested in Facebook, a social networking website.

“Microsoft has paid $240m (£117m) for a 1.6% stake in Facebook that values the hugely popular social networking site at $15bn (£7.3bn)”

This large slice of Facebook – plus a deal for Microsoft to advertise Facebook – looks like an attempt on Microsoft’s part to peer over the fence at the world of social networking, as both an investment and as research into Microsofts own social networking site.

Perhaps this is the beginning of Microbook or Microsoft 360? Facebook, the brainchild of Mark Zuckerberg, created in 2003 – Zuckerberg also rebuffed a $1bn takeover bid by Yahoo
