Hulu is a new online video service, designed for networks to legally share out their content that they choose, went live on the 28th October. Head on over to Hulu to sign up for the free beta.

According to the Hulu Blog:

“Starting today, we are sending out invitations which will allow users to access the private beta at Hulu.com. If you haven’t signed up, you can do so by visiting Hulu.com. As well, this week we’ll start serving Hulu’s content lineup to our distribution partner websites, which include AOL, Comcast, MSN, MySpace and Yahoo.”

It looks like it’s going to be a one way street to me: Producers cut and create their content, then post clips or full episodes online to Hulu, which allows you to watch or embed them (or a clip of).

Perhaps this will slow down the incredible rise of copyrighted content on places like YouTube, MySpace Video, Metacafe, and others – spawning directories of content like Alluc, or Peekvid.

I do have to ask myself, though – how long before websites like Vixy (A portal which downloads YouTube Videos in other formats) will pop up for Hulu.
