The modular gadget and tech startup Bug Labs is now well-known for it’s BUG technologies. But it will soon be shipping a limited edition of it’s BUG base unit, named the “Hero P Edition”.
But what’s different about this new unit? Well, according to the Bug Labs Blog, the newest iteration of the Bug Base unit’s user interface is based on a joystick navigation system, but the edition that will make it to full production will feature a panel-based button system.
The bad news? This next-gen gadget will not feature built-in wifi capability. But why? BugLab’s Peter Semmelhack offers an explanation:
“It’s the software drivers. Until recently, they simply haven’t existed in a form we could use … we couldn’t get it ready in time for our first committed ship date while remaining true to our commitment to stay 100% open source.”
Semmelhack also says that an external 802.11g module is in the works to address the issues of Internet access.
