Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture

Randy Pausch’s last lecture at Carnegie Mellon University has become a hit on YouTube, watched thousands of times the world over.

It’s the literal last lecture of the Universities’ lecturer, as he is dying of pancreatic cancer - I defy anyone not to be touched by this.

Be warned though, the video is 78 minutes long, so you may want to set aside some time first.

Possibly The Best/Worst Use For Industrial Coolant [Crazy but cool]

I’m not sure whether to toss this into the ‘genius’ or ’spectacularly bad idea’ pile. As how-to’s go, it’s certainly very dangerous.

Instructables (home of whacky home-grown how-to’s) user giannyl has a video on how she managed to make a bananna shake with liquid nitrogen.

Yes, liquid nitrogen. The same liquid nitrogen that comfotably resides at 63.15 Kelvin (-210.00 °C).

YouTube Higher Quality Lands

Check this out; I thought I’d post up a version on the new Cadbury’s Chocolate Advert, but then I saw something different about YouTube.

Underneath the video, there’s now a link offering ‘watch this video in higher quality’. Clicking reloads the video in - you guessed it - higher quality.

I’ve yet to test the quality for HD compatibility, or to see if YouTube is just limiting the initial quality of the videos, and then offering the original, but this looks like a definate step in the right direction for the video giant.

Check Out: Cali Lewis, GeekBrief

Cali LewisAlthough not completely devoid of the fairer sex, the technology world is arguably a male-majority place.

One of the best podcasters out there, however, is Cali Lewis. Husband and wife - yep, she’s taken, the duo get out and about, podcasting on a range of techno-topics as well as reporting on events like CES 2008, and Macworld.

The format is fresh and exciting, getting down to the point quickly in a series of 5 or so minute shows about 3-5 times weekly.
